Kim Delaney, an American actor best known for her role as detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series for which she won an Emmy Award. Her other credits include her role on the drama show All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. Delaney was the sole child of an United Auto Workers executive and his wife who was a housewife. She grew up within a household with four other brothers. As a child she was aspired to become a court reporter. After graduating from high school and relocating in New York in the 1980s, she began modeling. She starred in 1981 as an innocent teen in the film All My Children. Her career as an actor has been awash with numerous television films and dramas. As with her professional career but her personal life hasn't been happy or successful. The skilled actor been battling alcoholism and she has experienced two marriages that failed. She lost custody of her son in the year 2005.
